John Fox – My Story
About John Fox – My story starts with a small camera given to me by my grandmother when I was just five years old. That simple gift sparked a lifelong love of photography. I still have that little camera today, and it sits beside me on my desk every day in the office.
Growing up near Leicester Airfield, I would take that camera with me whenever the airshow came to town. I would head there with my parents and try to photograph the planes, even though the camera was far from ideal for the job. Still, I made the most of it and enjoyed every moment behind the lens.
That same camera always came with me on family holidays. It was the first thing I packed and the one item I never left behind. Those early experiences shaped how I see the world and helped build the passion that still drives my photography today.
This stunning image was taken with the same camera when I had reached 13 years old. This photograph was to be my late mother’s favourite ever picture that she saw me take. At this age I was still to discover and understand the talent that I would develop and that photography would become my life.
My love of photography is huge. I am always learning, evolving and being creative with light. The meaning of the word ‘photography’ is painting with light and I just love to paint with my camera. In the images below you will see some of the shots I have taken when I have just grabbed my camera and set off to play.
