Autumnal Pre-Wedding Shoot at Ettington Park Hotel with John Fox Wedding Photography. It was nice to be back at Ettington Park Hotel, capturing an autumnal pre-wedding shoot at one of Warwickshire’s most picturesque and historic venues. Located in the heart of the county, Ettington Park is part of the Hand Picked Hotels group, known for properties that combine classic charm with beautiful surroundings, making them ideal for couples looking for a memorable and scenic location. Ettington Park’s Gothic architecture and extensive grounds make it especially captivating during autumn, with the landscape glowing in shades of red, orange, and gold. As a Warwickshire-based photographer, I’m always delighted when I get the chance to photograph couples at this enchanting venue.

The couple who joined me for this shoot were preparing for their upcoming wedding and, like many couples, were initially a bit camera-shy. This is exactly why a pre-wedding shoot is included in all wedding packages at John Fox Wedding Photography. This session not only gave them a chance to warm up to being in front of the lens but also allowed us to get to know each other better before their big day. As we wandered through the grounds, capturing moments in the quiet beauty of the season, they began to relax and truly enjoy the experience. With each passing moment, the couple’s natural chemistry emerged, and they soon forgot their nerves.

One of the best parts of photographing an autumnal pre-wedding shoot at Ettington Park is how the seasonal colours bring a warm, romantic feel to every shot. The trees surrounding the hotel were showing off their brilliant autumn colours, with leaves scattered along the paths, creating a beautiful, rustic backdrop. We took advantage of the soft, natural light filtering through the branches, which gave each shot an Autumn glow and enhanced the couple’s interactions. The changing leaves and crisp autumn air added an extra layer of charm, helping to create photos that felt both intimate and timeless.

As a photographer who has worked extensively in the Hand Picked Hotels in the Midlands, including at Fawsley Hall—where John Fox Wedding Photography has been recommended for over 20 years—I can say that each of their properties brings something unique to a photoshoot. Ettington Park’s rich history and breathtaking architecture make it especially magical in autumn. There’s a sense of history and romance in every corner of the estate, from the ivy-clad walls to the wide-open lawns, historic Church and wooded areas. These elements set the scene for stunning photographs that capture both the couple’s story and the beauty of their surroundings.

One of the most meaningful aspects of this shoot was watching the couple’s initial nervousness fade as they grew more comfortable. They began to focus solely on each other, enjoying the process and letting their personalities shine through. By the end, their excitement for their wedding day was written on their faces, and their joy translated into some of my favourite images from the session. It’s always rewarding to see a couple who might have been hesitant at the start leave with memories that reflect their love and excitement.

Ettington Park in the autumn is an experience that’s both visually and emotionally rich, and this pre-wedding shoot perfectly captured that essence. This session was a wonderful opportunity to connect with the couple, explore their personalities, and give them a preview of how beautiful their wedding photos will be. The warm, inviting backdrop of Ettington Park made this autumnal pre-wedding shoot truly memorable, and I look forward to capturing more of these beautiful moments as they prepare for their journey ahead.
