Joanne and James chose Rudyard Lake for their pre-wedding shoot in Staffordshire at Rudyard Lake, a location that proved both beautiful and deeply personal. Rudyard Lake lies in the Staffordshire Moorlands near the town of Leek and stretches for about two and a half miles through scenic countryside, woodland, and shoreline paths. Its peaceful waters and varied walking routes make it a favourite spot for couples, families, and visitors alike.

The setting offered a perfect combination of natural backdrops and a relaxed atmosphere for photographs. Quiet stretches of water, tree-lined shores, and open views across the lake allowed the session to feel both intimate and visually rich. The calm environment helped Joanne and James feel comfortable and natural in front of the camera.

At the time of the pre-wedding shoot, Joanne and James simply enjoyed Rudyard Lake as a beautiful location for their photographs. However, shortly before the wedding, Joanne discovered that her grandmother’s ashes had been scattered there. This realisation added a deeply emotional layer to the images. What had already been a peaceful and special setting became a place tied to family memories and quiet reflection, giving the photographs an extra meaning.
