Pre-wedding Shoot in Northamptonshire: Emma and Lee

With just six weeks until their wedding, Emma and Lee recently enjoyed a relaxed pre-wedding shoot in Northamptonshire. The location was especially meaningful — St Mary Magdalene Church in Cottingham — not only where they will exchange vows but also just a short walk from their home. This personal connection made it the perfect spot for their photographs.

St Mary Magdalene Church has served the parishes of Cottingham and Middleton since the 13th century. Much of its current architecture dates to the 15th century, though it retains earlier features, including a Norman window above the tower arch. The tower and spire, built between the 13th and 14th centuries, still stand proudly today, making this Grade I listed building a striking rural backdrop.

Adding to the charm of the shoot was the couple’s dog, Monty. As Monty won’t be part of the wedding day itself, it was important to Emma and Lee to include him in the pre-wedding shoot. His presence made the session feel even more personal and captured a special part of their story together.

After their church ceremony, Emma and Lee will travel just seven minutes into Leicestershire for their reception at the historic Nevill Arms in Medbourne. This Grade II listed building, constructed in 1863 to replace an earlier inn lost to fire, was originally commissioned by Captain G.R. Nevill. Today it operates as a boutique hotel and pub set beside a gentle brook, with ten bedrooms, a popular restaurant and a warm welcome.

The pre-wedding shoot not only produced a lovely set of images but also provided the photos that will be used to create their personalised guest book — a feature included with every wedding package from John Fox Wedding Photography. These books are a unique way for guests to leave messages beside images that reflect the couple’s journey.
